What's New

November 15, 2011

We just closed the resort up for the Winter but we are already quite busy with inquiries for 2012.

If you weren’t able to visit us this year, you will see some changes during your next visit. The Shining Waters Inn undersent major renovations this season. We replaced two foundation walls and constructed a large new deck on the north side of the building. Inside we completely renovated the entry and the main lounge area with new paint, new rugs, a new flat screen tv and all new leather furnishings. The change is amazing. We also painted the entire exterior of the building and upgraded all the beds to new pillow top units.

We also upgraded most of the beds in the Shining Waters cottages and replaced some of the upholstered furnishings. In the past we have had some poor WIFI reception in certain parts of the resort. This year we upgraded our entire wireless system and everyone reported much improved signal strength.

The big news in the Cavendish area for 2011 was the completion of the re-construction of the entire Gulfshore Roadway within the National Park and the construction of a dedicated bikeway running from Cavendish all the way to North Rustico. Don’t forget to bring your bicycles on your next visit (or rent them next door)!

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival in early July continues to be a great success and we remain hopeful that plans for a second concert weekend in late August will soon be finalized. The amazing repertory theatre company at the Montgomery Theatre in North Rustico remains “the little engine that could” and continues to produce professional quality theatre productions which are playing to strong audiences.

Many visitors will remember the large Friendly Fisherman restaurant beside the resort that was tragically lost to fire in 2009. This season a new dairy bar, Kaptain Kid’s, opened on the side (still run by Jameel Dow). It’s a great spot and a lovely place to take the family during the day or after dinner for a treat. We’ve been missing a diary bar in Cavendish recently and this is a great addition.

If you haven’t visited Cavendish in the past or haven’t visited us for some time, there’s lots of great new things to see.
